FUND FOR THE FUTURE

CONFERENCE RECIPIENT REFLECTIONS 2007

I am so grateful to have been able to come to the conference.  It was so much more than what I expected.  I would not have been able to attend this year without the scholarship.  It is a benefit to any first-time attendee, because you also have help with the registration process.

The most positive experience at the conference was the networking and communication with other teachers in my language.  I have only been teaching for four years, and it was great to hear their experiences.  I was inspired by the Teacher of the Year and the keynote speakers.

I have ample improvements I can apply to my classes from the workshops.  Again, it was great to hear from the experienced teachers from the association.  I was glad the workshops were broken up by language and described in detail in the conference booklet.

Thank you so much for this opportunity to become a part of the association and experience your 40th annual conference.  It was great!

The TFLTA conference was wonderful.  It was great to have so much knowledge and so many diverse talents in one place.  It was impossible not to learn something new.  I gained a lot of new ideas that I can adapt to fit the needs of my elementary students.  I was also able to network and make contacts that will be priceless in my teaching career.  I met some phenomenal teachers who all agree that great ideas are meant to be shared.

My most positive experience was meeting people from other districts with different views and opinions on foreign language teaching.  We all have our strengths, and it was very rewarding to have so many people willing to share their strengths with me.

I would definitely encourage others to apply for the Fund for the Future grant.  I am only in my third year of teaching, but I believe that teachers are never too “experienced” to learn something new.  Attending conferences keeps us up-to-date on the changes in our field.  Everything was so organized and seemed to run very smoothly.

While I attend many professional development programs and conferences in my own school district, attending this conference with people from all over the state has been a great experience.  Sometimes, as teachers, we think some of our challenges are exclusive to our situations and schools.  TFLTA has given me a better picture of what is going on in foreign language classes across the state.  Talking with, meeting, and sharing with these colleagues has been incredible.  I would encourage anyone who has not attended the conference before to give it a try!  Thank you for this opportunity.

The things that benefited me the most in my classroom were all of the fresh ideas I received in the Saturday session.  The group of Metro Nashville teachers that had all of those great Spanish ideas, I believe was the best.  I have started to use and will definitely use all of their ideas.  I also plan to use the ideas from the session on Spanish soap operas and movies.

The most positive experience I had was gathering with Spanish teachers from different parts of Tennessee and sharing ideas.

I would definitely encourage anyone that can apply for the Fund for the Future grant.  This was a wonderful opportunity and I am very grateful for this opportunity.  This fund helped me attend and enjoy the many aspects of the conference at a time when I wasn’t financially able to do so on my own.
